IP 500 Send Calls to VM when Off Hook

I have recently took a position where we are using the IP Office 500 system. I have noticed that this is the only place I have ever been where if I am on a call, I.E. off hook that internal calls and external calls still continue to ring into my extension. I have "glanced" through a few online articles and nothing has popped out at me and I just was granted access to this forum today. My apologies if this is the dumbest question asked here.

My question is, In the programming and where, is the feature to have calls go to VM when I am off hook? The installers that originally put the system in said id could be done but they couldn't find it. This is what I was told by my co-workers. So this is how the system here has been for a little over a year now and everyone would love to have this resolved if possible. And I could be a hero for 5 minutes

Using Manager, on your User, on the Voicemail tab, check the box for Voicemail On the Telephony tab, Call Settings tab, No Answer Time (secs) is how long the call will ring at your extension before it covers to voicemail.

Some of the possible answer will depend on what phone you are using? - you didn't say.

On many Avaya phones you can scroll the display to see details of the additional waiting call in order to decide whether you want to answer it or send it straight to voicemail. Some phones can be made to automatically switch to display the waiting call details.

If you're sure you don't want to know about additional calls when already on a call, change your button programming configuration to just 2 call appearance buttons and enable the "Reserve last CA" function. That needs programming access to the system configuration, it can't be done through the phone's own button programming settings.

          Okay.

Having the system maintainer reconfigure the user to have just two call appearances and reserve last CA enabled will certainly work for a 9508.

Meanwhile, when you have multiple calls, the softkey options across the bottom of the display apply to the call currently displayed. That is normally the call that you are talking too, however you can use the up and down cursor key to move between displaying details of the different calls and the softkey options that you can apply to each of those calls.

So for example, while on a call, when you hear the alert for another call wating, you can press the down cursor to display the details of the newly arrived (unanswered) call and use the Ignore softkey to stop it alerting or the To VM softkey to send it to voicemail immediately.

To partial ease that process, you can have the phone automatically switch to displaying the details of the newly arrived call, so that its a single key press action for you to hit To VM if you don't want to interrupt your current call. Do that by switching on Auto Display Waiting Call (press Features |Call Settings | Auto Display Waiting Call). http://marketingtools.avaya.com/know...iting_call.htm
