Reboot of system does not log on some phones.

I have R8.1 of the Office Manager software.

I think by design some phones did not log on automatically on the reboot of the phone system. However we want to change this setting for a few phones now.

I have searched and found various comments on this but frankly cant find where to see them in the software, and besides maybe they are wrong I don't know.

The following link talks about it but darned if I cant find where it is.

We have a 30 phone site with all 9608 phones. When I reboot the system there are a few phones that wont automatically log in. I do not have any login codes set. The phone comes up and has the right extension number up top, but it says logged out. Its acting like I do have a login code...

Maybe its different than what I have ??

Can anyone provide some advice here.

    Thanks.

If you have 9608 sets as referenced in the link you provided, you want to CLEAR the settings on them, let them boot up, and the extension number you put into the phone the first time after the clear is what they will log in as upon a reboot.

Make sure you have an H323 extension and a matching User in the IP Office Manager. At the phone, press Mute and dial CRAFT# on the keypad. Press Clear, and confirm by pressing Clear again. The phone will reboot, let it get an address, ask the server for its files, and finally arrive at the login screen. Type in the extension number and #, then if you have a login code set in Supervisor Settings, dial that and #, otherwise just press #.

I am not at the location of the phone, but it is either a 9504 or 9508.
I assume in this case it does not matter.

I dont understand a few things.

I dont know what you mean by H323 Extension.
If you mean is there a listing in the phone in the Extensions list of the software there is a listing there, I cant tell you if its right but its there and looks like other phone extensions.

There is also a user set up for this phone also in the Office Manager. Again it looks like other users, although there are a number of settings so its hard to see them all.

I do not understand clearing the phone.
For example on my phone at my desk a 9504 I press mute and nothing happens. I try to type mute basically nothing happens. Then when I try to press mute 272 it starts to beeping telling me that something is wrong. It will not let me get any further.
I try to follow this faq

      It does not work.

Is there a difference between IP phones and digital. We have both.
Im trying this on the digital phone, but the actual phone is an IP phone.

Although I think this would be good to know on both systems.
      Thanks.

You need to do this on the IP phone, the digital phone won't work. The digital phones are just plugged into specific ports that define the extension number. With an IP phone, the phone can be located anywhere in the world and as long as it can communicate with the IP Office it'll just work, but the phone needs to "login" to an extension.

Pressing the mute button on the IP Phone and then dialing 27238# will bring you into the CRAFT menu which allows you to change various settings on the phone, and log it out if you need to (I would recommend logging out the phone and confirming that the extension is correct.)

Also, check in manager that under the settings for the user you're having an issue with you don't have "Force Login" checked off.

The H.323 protocol is the standard VoIP protocol.

And . . . One thing to check that is also on the CRAFT menu is the ip address of the DHCP server.

With due respect to everyone else, if the phone is working fine, then failure to come back up automatically on a system reboot is unlikely to be anything to do with phone's own menu settings (especially for 9500 Series phones folks).

            Things to check:

            - In the Extension entry for the phone in IP Office Manager, it should have the Base Extension field set to indicate the phone's default user.

            - For that user (as suggested in an earlier reply), check in IP Office Manager, that they are not set to Force Login.

I'm having the same issue and came across your thread in hopes of fixing it.

Basically overnight our phone system is dropping the configuration of the handsets and so in the morning we have a mishmash of extensions going to the wrong users. I have gone around and now reset each handset individually but am curious about your comment MarkGallagher when you refer to:-

              - In the Extension entry for the phone in IP Office Manager, it should have the Base Extension field set to indicate the phone's default user. - this appears correct how do I tell if it isn't? Are you meaning the physical port extension to line extension (as in user base station)?

              - For that user (as suggested in an earlier reply), check in IP Office Manager, that they are not set to Force Login. The post above by zacabog recommended to have the box checked or am I reading that incorrectly?

I'm very confused and our phone system is about to go out the window if I can't fix this it is driving me nuts!!

Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
