    SIP trunk questions / clarifications

    Hello Forum,

I have an IPO running v7.0(36). Manager is v9.0(36).

I'm attempting to get my SIP trunk working, and have a few questions:

    1. My sip provider needs an ip address from my end. I'm assuming I set a public address in System - LAN2 - LAN Settings tab, correct?
    2. Under System - LAN2 - LAN Settings tab, what is "Primary Trans. IP Address"?
    3. I'm also assuming I need to setup an IP Route. Is this correct:
IP Address: (the IP of the SIP trunk)
    IP Mask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway IP Address: (my public IP's gateway)
    Destination: LAN2
    Metric: 0
    Proxy ARP: unchecked

    Thanks!

    Also, forgot to ask:

Does LAN1 = physical port on the IPO marked LAN
Does LAN2 = physical port on the IPO marked WAN

You should really be using a firewall in front of the IP Office and give the provider the IP address that device is using to point to the IP Office, but otherwise that's all correct. You'll also need to add the SIP information to your Lines and you'll need licenses for the SIP trunk.

Circling back around to this. I'm unable to ping my SIP IP from the IPO. I can ping that ip from every other device inside and outside my network; even from my cell phone on 4g...but not from the IPO. In fact, the *only* ip addresses I can ping from the IPO are on the specific subnet that my IPO is on, and that only from the LAN1 interface. Can't seem to ping anything including 8.8.8.8 from my lan2 interface.

And I can't ping the IPO's LAN1 ip from any subnets or vlans other than the one it's on.

I'm struggling to find where the issue lies. Seems to be an internal routing issue, but danged if I can find it...

Sounds like you're missing the default gateway. Add this under IP Route.
