    Line Appearance - Avaya 1616-I

    Hi everyone,

I hope I am posting this in the right place.

I'm not a networking professional, but I know a thing or two.
But not about phones, it seems.

We recently re-arranged our office phones (7 total), and I decided to re-arrange my speed dial buttons on the reception phone.
They work as speed dials, but line appearance LEDs no longer "appear".

I should've known better than to change this, but it's happened now.
I know there must be a way to fix this up in-house, rather than calling the phone people who charge an arm and a leg per minute.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I think you have you terminology incorrect, on any set the first two buttons must be set to call appearance NOT LINE APPEARANCE , start off there and then try to explain what you mean by speed dial buttons not lighting up ??

      Hi, thanks for your reply.

You're probably right - I'm not sure of the correct terminology.

      My phone is used as a switchboard at reception;

The top right column of buttons has line a, line b, park 1 and park 2.

And on the bottom right column are buttons with my colleagues names on them.
A little green LED light would flash next to their name if they were on a call.

But I have changed those buttons.
For some silly reason, I thought it would be a good idea to re-order my colleagues names on list, and I thought it was just a simple speed dial setting.
So now those buttons are just speed dials (or "abbreviated dial"), and the little green LED lights no longer flash when their phones are on a call.

I hope this explains a little better?

Sounds like you only need to change the action in the button programming to be "User" and not "Dial." The action data will give you a drop down list of all the extensions in the system, if you start typing a number it'll fill in the rest automatically.
