    IP office 500 expansion modules

I just wanted to double check a fact about the expansion modules I currently have. My phone contractor installed these expansion units: "IP400 digital station 30 v2 pcs 09" and "IPO 500 exp mod dgtl sta 30"

Do either of these units support IP addresses? I.e. if I wanted to put an expansion module in another building (on same network) to connect to my main system

IP Office doesn't work that way. Expansion modules are for digital or analog stations, and they must be within a meter of the IP 500 control unit, and only connected with the factory supplied cable. You can't put an expansion module in another part of your building and connect it back to the control unit. You must cable all of your extensions back to where the IP Office control unit is located.

Or you could install ANOTHER IP Office control unit, equipped with enough station ports for your phones, and use Small Community Networking to connect back to the first IP Office.

Or you could use IP Phones on the network to connect to the IP Office.

Whilst the cable between the IP Office system and an external expansion module may look like and be wired like an ethernet cable, the signalling that goes across it is not.

That's what I was trying to avoid, I currently have 4 control units at different buildings with expansion modules on each of them. But I was poking around on IP office manager and noticed under "control units" where it lists my expansion modules, it says "IP address" 0.0.0.0 so I just assumed they support networking. In the case that I do have to buy another control unit, I am trying to go about this without my contractor as I feel I might be being grossly overcharged; how would I find the part numbers I need to purchase? I would need the control unit and enough modules to handle 16 digital phones.
