    Duplicating a line (IP 500)

    Hi all,

We currently have an IP Office Server (IP 500).
I want to connect two phones to the same port, such that when one person calls some internal number, both phones will ring. When you pick up that phone, they should of course both stop ringing.

How can I do this? Can I just use a UTP splitter?

    Thank you in advance!

No, unless the phones in questions are single-line analogue telephone sets, you can not simply use a splitter to connect two telephone set to a single station port.

Depending on what you want to happen, you could create a Collective Call Waiting Hunt Group, and put the 2 telephone extension numbers in the group as members. So if the 2 phones are extension 101 and 102, and you make the group 103, you can still call each phone individually, or call the group to ring them simultaneously.

Or, you could use internal twinning to twin 102 with 101. Now 102 kind of "disappears" from your dial plan, calling 101 makes both extensions ring simultaneously, and dialing out from either phones appears as if it were coming from 101.
