Ring phone ext when user logged in and ring

    Hi,
Just had our new Avaya system put in and its been good so far.

Only thing I would like is to be able to do is ring a phone a phones extension and no matter if a user is logged in or not have the phone ring.

Had a Mitel system in our old school and this saved so much hassle as it didn't matter if the user was logged in or not.

    Is there any way?

    Cheers

What exactly are you doing that there would be a phone with no one logged in some of the time? If you're just hot desking, give the phone a base extension that doesn't change then have people log in over that with their own extension. That way the base extension can ring and if someone else is using the phone and logged in, it can also ring as them.

Weve got it setup so that in classrooms the phones have their own extension so they can have incomming calls and if they want to make external calls staff can login.

When staff are in however if reception tries to call the room then they cant as whoever is logged in stops the phones extension from working.

It could be anyone logged into the phone to dial out, not like a office environment.

So far what ive done is forwarded the phones user to the most likely person that will be in the room if the phones ext is busy or no answer.

You can create a short code like *99N/Dial Extension by Number/N

It will dial the physical extension instead of the user. It can also be used to dial forwarded extensions.
