How to share analog trunk # with fax

have a customer (ipoffice 500 v2) that only has 2 analog trunks in a hunt, but wants to share her analog fax machine with the secondary number.

Is there even a way to do this or does she need a dedicated number to route to the fax?

Comes down to the question, how do you know it is a fax coming in before you answer the call?

If you route Line 2 to the phones just like Line 1, then the users will answer the incoming call, hear incoming fax CNG tone, and transfer the call to the extension number of the Fax machine. Give them a User button for the Fax extension to make it easier.

Or, you could have an automated attendant answer line 2. Don't record a greeting on it, make the inactivity timer something like 6 seconds, and the Fax selector code the Fax extension. In the Incoming Call Route, make your Main hunt group the fallback destination. Call will ring in, the AA will answer with silence, if it detects the Fax CNG tone, call will automatically go to the fax machine, if not, after the delay, will ring the phones. If you want to get fancy, get a recording of ring-back tone, use the LVM greeting utility to convert it to a .clp file, and upload that as the greeting for the auto attendant, so the caller will think the call is still ringing when the AA is listening for CNG tone
