One-x portal error

Hi,
I have a 9.1.4 ipo deployed OVA
I deploy a Server Application for the one- X Portal OVA also

in the documentation:
1°) stop one-x portal = OK
2°) uninstall one-x portal = KO
I get this error:
'error: Failed dependencies:
oneXportal is needed by (installed) scs-webconferencing-9.1.0-010653.i386
oneXportal is needed by (installed) Primary-9.1.400-137.el6.noarch

I try to uninstall webconf same error:
'error: Failed dependencies:
scs-webconferencing is needed by (installed) Primary-9.1.400-137.el6.noarch


3°) add one-x portal to : Solution\Application = KO
no link to "add" application server

KO? Assume you mean it fails.

On your virtual SE server, stopping the one-X Portal service and unchecking the auto-start option is enough. You don't actually need to uninstall the portal rpm files after that. Note however that you do need to go to the server's platform view menus and in Settings | General | one-X Portal Settings section set it to point at your application server.

Servers installed from an OVA do not include the rpm files needed for reinstallation of any component that you have uninstalled. The fix is to upgrade the server using an SE ISO file which will, in the process of upgrading, put copies of all the original rpms into the server's cache (or simply reinstall the whole virtual application server OVA). [or you can dig into the ISO to extract the necessary rpm and upload it via the server's platform view menu]

It sounds like you have an IP Office virtual server image running and you're trying to remove the One-X portal, any reason why? The dependency error is telling you that there are other installed packages that depend on that package, scs-webconferencing and you can't remove that because the IPO application depends on it. This could just be an Avaya dependency bug, but it sounds more like something that shouldn't be done, what exactly are you trying to do?

Stopping the portal service on the SE primary and replacing it with portal running on an application server is a supported option. It increases the supported user capacity on smaller servers.

(Okay, on a virtual installation of both it doesn't make much sense if they are still hosted on the same virtual server platform apart from ending up with two virtual machines to be able to monitor/control with the VMware tools)

Because my custmer want now , run One-x portal
on a different VM

And I stop One-x portal, but in the webmanager the led is orange
and this information can bring confusion !
because the one- X Portal server run on another VM

and as I look at the documentation and it is clearly written ;-(

And also, in my webmanager in Apllication serveur "Application\VMpro" to link lunch in the application serveur IP, so the VMPRO run in the Priamary server ;-(

Is not very clean when IPO server "Primary\Secondary" and Application Server, because In my primary the led is orange because "one-x portal" is stop, same problem in the application serveur for "Contact Recorder" and the link in the Application Serveur,does not point to the primary server

Sounds like the One-X portal package cannot be removed through the web interface because of the dependency problems, you would have to run rpm and force it to ignore dependencies (which would be a very bad idea.)

What documentation are you looking at specifically?

Found it (or what I think it is)

"2.Stop the one-X Portal service if running and ensure that the auto-start box is unchecked.
· In addition on the Updates tab you can select to Uninstall the one-X Portal service."

If you have IPOSS I would open up a ticket and let them know, but as a software developer I don't have any confidence at all that removing the service will actually remove the icon from the web interface since it's likely that it's hard coded in there regardless of having One-X installed or not.

Yeah that's the same documentation I found, like I said it can't be removed from the web interface due to the dependency issue, so if you want it gone you'll have to open an IPOSS ticket (they'll probably tell you that you can't remove the package and they'll update the documentation.)

Also, from what I've seen in the past Avaya is pretty lazy with that sort of stuff and the status is likely hard coded as part of the web interface and not dependent on the One-X package, so you'll still see that the service is unavailable.
