    J129 - Delayed Hotline supported?

    IP Office release 10.1 introduces delayed hotline support. The definition is a t follows:

    "IP Office has an existing Hotline feature This feature will be enhanced existing feature to add a timeout, in seconds. The timeout will start as soon as the handset is lifted."

    The use case is mostly in Hospitality, education, senior care , emergency and for off hook alerts as it was present in CS1K.

    I am wondering if the new SIP J129 deskphone does support that feature?

    Yes, but with a bit gotcha. The new function is a function of the telephone system and not the phone - so for phones that use enbloc dialing (which is most SIP phones, not just J129) it only kicks in once the phone's Send function or equivalent starts sending digits to the telephone system.

        yes I know that it is a feature of the phone system and that will work only if the phone is in "overlap" dialing modus or live dialpad, which is the case with the H.323 phones. I need a cost effective phone that supports the delayed hotline for a education project. So that means for me J129 will not be a good choice. What would you take as alternative?

        @furrerm

        can you provide the documention. In my opinion, Avaya should then add such features within the SIP FW! The SIP phones should support most of the features which the H.323 does as well, so maybe in a future release of the SIP firmware, what do you think?

          It can't be supported on SIP phones because they dial en-bloc, nor can the older simple Hotline feature. It may work in some of the dial failure use cases but that would not likely be useful.
          Most 3rd party SIP devices offer Hot-Line operation locally, some may offer the delay operation too. I don't know about the J129.

            I checked the SIP configuration file of the J129, it does not seem to have such a feature included. Does someone know if there is something via a webinterface?

              Hello,

              does anyone know if Avaya is thinking about to add the delayed hotline feature to the SIP firmware?

              Regards

              Lothar
