    96x1 SIP Firmware

    Hello,

in order to respond a RfP, the customer is asking to have only SIP telephones. As the 96x1 series can run with SIP as on the Aura, I like to know if this is supported on IP Office? If yes, are the whole feature set supported?

    The simple answer is No.

    The more complex answer is:

For 9600 Series, phones using SIP are only supported in the branch survivability model, that is 9600 SIP phones registered to a central Aura/CM but able to fall back to a local IP Office when there are network issues.

For Avaya SIP phones registered natively to an IP Office your choices are H175, E129, J129 but their integration is basic compared to that provided by Avaya H323 phones.

The question would be why the insistance on SIP. 9600 Series H323 would require pretty much the same infrastructure but deliver a lot more features.
