Time Issue with IPO 8.0 (66) - delay of 16 minutes

    Hi,

I'm facing a time issue with an Avaya IP Office (Version 8.0) with a VM Pro.
    Phones models : Avaya 1616L & 1 Avaya B179

    The problem is :

Before the change my customer have his own SNTP but he complains about the fact that he has 16 minutes of delays. My first idea was that the IPO can't make the resolution of the SNTP.
I change the configuration in selecting the "time setting configuration source" to none and configure the correct time zone and the others settings and save.
After the merge the result is the same. Yesterday evening I control the settings one more time and made a reboot of the IPO and same result.

I check in the SSA and the time server status shows the time with the delay (16 minutes), with the time source "local".

If you have an idea or if you have experienced this problem...

    Thx in advance !

If you set the Time Setting Config Source to None, the system to not make any time requests. The system time and date needs to be set using a phone with System Phone Rights (User | User). The system can then automatically apply daylight saving settings to the manually set time.

I think the 8.0 cannot resolve a FQDN for the time server, so set the Time Setting Configuration Source to SNTP, ping pool.ntp.org and put the resulting IP address into the Time Server Address. Have System Status running on the Time display before you merge the configuration, and you will see the immediate results if it was successful in reaching a time server.

That IP address could change or become non-responsive, so take it for what it is. I have resorted to installing VM Pro on a PC, even though the site was using Embedded VM, so that there would be a recognized time server that the IPO could connect with.

      Hi,

      Thx fort the reply.

Unfortunely, I try to configure a SNTP with the resolution of pool.ntp.org and it doesn't work (see the result in attach) I have a "last poll result : failed".

Can you actually ping the sntp server from the IP Office via System Status? Perhaps you don't have a default gateway?

For the quick resolution, check the box in Manger Preferences for enable time server, change the time setting source in the IPO and merge. It will pull from the computer running Manager, and then you can work on getting sntp to work
