Requirements to upgrade to 10.1 from 9 for Skype business.

    Hello.
Recently, we purchased Avaya equipment from our leasing company, at end of our lease. And we have 2 IP Office 500 V2 at two offices. One is on version 9.1.7 and other 9.0.3. My question is on upgrading the units to new versions.

The reason why because we need to integrate to our Skype for Business and have read somewhere that we need to be on R10.1 version to use Skype for Business – is this correct?

If so, what are the steps in upgrading to Version 10.1
( when we click on File – Advance – Upgrade – it shows available version is 10.1 and gives us the option to upgrade, does this mean we have the license to upgrade or need to purchase upgrade license).

    Kindly, advise
    Thank you.

You need to migrate your current licenses from Release 9.1 with "ADI" to Release 10.1 with "PLDS", and add an Upgrade license to each unit. You must consider the hardware that you have, if it will work on 10.1. If you have any applications like Chronicall that will need new CTI License.

Once you have your license migration files, you can do the upgrade, following any interim steps outlined in the release notes for the version you want to go to. Then add the license file and confirm everything is working before programming any new features.

So your best bet is to get with a competent Avaya Business Partner to get you through the process

Currently, we installed Version 10 of IP Office Manager and Voice Pro V10 (one office has embedded voicemail in IP500 and other using Voice Pro server).

What are the steps of migrate the licenses from the unit (is it basically Tools - License Migration - which is a zip file from Office Manager)?
And how do i add an upgrade license 10.1 to each unit ( do i need to purchases these licenses; if so from where - we have a sold to number, if that matters)?

On the side note: We have 2 offices which rely heavily on avaya phones and we did contact 2 local Avaya partners in past 6 months and both times we had to go our own ways to fix the problems causing havoc within offices. Well, i won't go into those details right now but our management was not happy at all....

And all we want to do at this point is to be updated to V10.1; so we can have Skype Integration.

      Thank you for your help.
