    9640 - backlight off - phone "sleeping"

    Hi,

I'm very new to Avaya having come from a Nortel background. I'm doing my best to work through the documentation but it's taking a while!

I did a search on this and didn't find anything obvious, but I may be using different terminology.

I've a 9640 IP phones and if it's left idle for a period of time, the screen goes dark as though the backlight has gone to sleep.

This is a nuisance as it means I can't see details on inbound calls for my pickup group without having to lift and replace the handset.

I've been through the phone settings and I can't find anything that looks like it relates to this.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on how to turn this feature off?

    Many thanks,

    Terri

    9640 Backight

Take a look at the parameter SET BAKLIGHTOFF in the 96xxsettings.txt (or 46xxsettings.txt).

It has the number of minutes it will take to go into the dark, as you called.
Mine is set for 2 hours (120 minutes).

By the way, when a call comes in, it lights up and I'm still able to see it.

This is the bottom of my settings file:

    SET BAKLIGHTOFF 120
    SET SCREENSAVERON 10
