    Backlight timeout on 1608

    Hi,

I can't seem to find any related articles on how to change the default timeout on the backlight of the 1608 handsets. Maybe it's hard coded? I've seen the screens turn off after an extended period of time (many hours, but I can't say exactly how many) but I'd like to be able to customise that.

Am I not searching the right places or hard enough, or am I missing something else?

Thanks for any nudges in the right direction.

    Pete

Maybe I've found the answer - certainly I remember doing this on the 46xx handsets, and hte 46xxsettings.txt file.

So in case anyone else finds this thread I think I've worked it out. It looks like the 16xx handsets also use the 46xxsettings.txt file and it's a case of adding the usual directive to that file:

    SET BAKLIGHTOFF X

where X is the amount of time before the backlight switches off (I don't believe that's a typo - there shouldn't be a "C"

    Thanks,

    Pete

Hi Pete, you are absolutely correct.

Please take a look at this:

Table 8: 1600 Series IP Telephone Customizable System Parameters

After checking the application software, the 1600 Series IP Telephone looks for a 46xxsettings file. This optional file is where you identify non-default option settings, application-specific parameters, and so on. You can download a template for this file from the Avaya support Web site.

BAKLIGHTOFF 120 Number of minutes without display activity to wait
before turning off the backlight. Values: 0-999, no
spaces and no null value. A value of 0 means the
      backlight never turns off.
