See which extensions are in use

    Hello,

I'm not sure if we have a unique setup, or if this is something someone has come across in the past. We're using an Avaya 500V2 (V6.0) with 2420 phones. On our previous phone system we used to be able to see which extensions were in use by looking at the phone.

I have programmed in bridged appearances but they seem to not be working, and I believe it's because of how we use the phones.

it's a small office, on the phones we have 3 appearance lines that we do not use. when a call comes in we pickup to answer, and then we put the person on hold and tell someone "Go pickup Line 2". All of our lines are programmed as buttons on the screen, so to pickup the call, they hit the line that is on hold. This causes them not to show up on the bridge appearances.

Is there any way to fix this? or are we not using the phones correctly?

Any help would be greatly appriciated

Use "User" buttons to indicate if another extension is in use

I would suggest not to use bridged appearances, or even line appearances. Instead use Call Appearances, and Park buttons. (Call 1, Call 2, Call 3, Park 1, Park 2, Park 3). When you want someone else to take a call, press an idle Park button, that will light up on all sets while the call is parked. The other guy just presses the Park button to get the call pulled over to their own Call button, making the Park button available for use again.

Thank you for that information, it works perfectly. It turns out that we didn't need to see the lines as long as we can park them and have someone else pick it up.

      Thanks Again!
