Body

Line ringing must be set so that the fax only rings on calls that come in on it's dedicated line, while user extensions will ringing on all the other lines.

If you are using Voicemail and/or Automated Attendant, you will need to remove the fax's dedicate line from the Group call distribution group 7, and un assign the fax's extension from automatic VMS cover.

For example:
  • Fax is connected to extension 16.
  • Line 4 is dedicated to incoming faxes.
  • Extensions 10-15, and extensions 17-25 are handled by live agents.
They do not want extensions 10-15, and 17-25 to ring when line 4 has an incoming call nor have extension 16 ring when calls come in on lines 1, 2, and 3.

How to change line ringing

The fax extension must have line 1, 2, and 3 set to 'No Ring', and line 4 set to 'Immediate Ring'.
The users extensions (x10-x15, x17-x25) must have line 4 set to 'No Ring' and lines 1, 2, and 3 set to 'Immediate Ring'.
By default, all lines for all extensions are already set to 'Immediate Ring'.

It is recommended that the fax's line be removed from the Group call distribution group 7 if a voicemail system is being used. This should eliminate any trouble with the fax receiving incoming calls.

From extension 10 or 11, follow the procedure below.
  1. Press [ Feature] [ 0] [0] [ Left Intercom ] [ Left Intercom ] [ Right Intercom ].
  2. Display should show Centralized Programming
  3. NOTE* By default, all lines for all extensions are set to 'Immediate Ring'.
  4. There are three states of line ringing:
    • Immediate Ring - on steady
    • Delayed Ring - flashes slowly
    • No Ring - flashes quickly
  5. Enter the fax extension number
  6. Press line 1 until the display shows 'No Ring', and repeat step for line 2 and line 3. Line 4 should not be pressed and you can verify by looking at the green LED for line 4 and it should be steady while lines 1, 2, and 3 are flashing quickly.
  7. If you press line 4, it will change to 'Delayed Ring' and the green LED will flash slowly. Just press line 4 again until the display shows 'Immediate Ring' and the green LED is solid.
  8. There are two ways to set up the rest of the extensions:
    • Press the right intercom button one time and enter in x10 (starting with x10 simplifies the task)
    • Or Press the Next button or Previous button (you will need the programming template overlay) to go to the next extension or the previous extension.
  9. Once you are at x10 (or any user extension), You will press line 4 until it shows 'No Ring' and the green LED for line 4 is flashing quickly. Lines 1, 2, and 3 should already be a solid green. But if not, press each line button until the display shows 'Immediate Ring' and the green LED is solid green.
  10. Press the [ Right Intercom ] [ Left Intercom ] and display should show system programming.
  11. Press [ # ] 2 0 6
  12. Press 7
  13. Press the two digit line number (for our example) 0 4
  14. Press 2 Display will show 'Not Assgned'.
  15. When you are finished, press [ Feature] [ 0] [0].
  16. Display should show date and time.
  17. Make test calls to verify that the fax only answers line 4 and user extensions never answer on line 4.
