This article shows how account Administrators can change the phone number assigned to a desk phone or softphone.
Administrators can either replace a phone's number with a new one or select an existing number within the account.
1. Log in to your Avaya Cloud Office as an Administrator.
2. Under the Admin Portal, go to Phone System > Phones & Devices.
3. Under User Phones, select the device that you want to modify.
4. Click Edit Number.
5. You have two choices:
• Replacing it with a new number
Allows you to choose a completely new phone number. Set the State/Province and Area Code on the filters provided, and then select your new phone number from the list of available numbers.
• Select from already assigned numbers
Allows you to swap the number with another one in your account. Select from the list of available numbers that can be assigned to the device.
6. Click Next.
7. You will be asked what you want to do with the old phone number. You have 2 choices:
• Keep this number as an additional number
Select this option if you want to keep the old number to use later. This number can be used in the future when adding a new Digital Line to your account.
When you click Next, you will be asked to acknowledge the order for the additional number (the number you are keeping). You will also see a pop-up window that will ask if you want to update your Emergency Address. Click Yes if the device will be used in a different location. When you select this option, the old number will be kept as one of the account's company numbers and will incur charges + tax and fees.
• Delete this number from my account
Select this option if you want to remove the old number from your account. When you click Next, you will also see a pop-up window that will ask if you want to update your Emergency Address. Click Yes if the device will be used in a different location.
