Company Emergency Response Locations (ERL) are named business locations together with the dispatchable address to which emergency responders are directed. These addresses are provided to emergency responders when a user makes an emergency call.

An ERL should be a location to which the responders can be dispatched and where the caller can be found in a reasonable manner. You don't need to define an ERL down to a particular cube or person's office. Instead, for example, a small business would use their address and suite number.

Consider these guidelines when defining an ERL:
  • A small business location in a single office suite can map to one ERL
  • A medium-sized business occupying multiple floors in a building can define one ERL per floor
  • A large warehouse can be divided into quadrants with one ERL associated with each quadrant
ERLs with granular location information can use both the address line 1 and line 2 fields: for example, 'Avaya Santa Clara':  4655 Great America Parkway, Floor 1, Santa Clara, CA 95054, USA'.
