Problem Description

This problem occurs in Avaya Aura® Communication Manager (CM) Releases 6.2.

On a CM 6.2 system, selection of the Rollback option on the Patch Management page after a Kernel Service Pack (e.g., Kernel Service Pack 1 - KERNEL-2.6.18-238.AV2a) is successfully installed can render the system unusable and it may have to be reinstalled.

On a system that has been migrated from CM 5.2.1 to CM 6.2, if you apply a Kernel Service Pack, the Kernel Service Pack will not install correctly and a Rollback will automatically occur.

Workaround / Alternative Remediation

Do not install a Kernel Service Pack on a CM 6.2 system until a fix is available and activated.

Resolution

Do not install a Kernel Service Pack on a CM 6.2 system that was migrated from CM 5.2.1.

If a Kernel Service Pack is installed on a CM 6.2 system that was not migrated from CM 5.2.1, do not select the Rollback option.

This problem is fixed in CM 6.2 Service Pack (SP) 4 (20199) and later SPs/Releases.
