These problems occur in Avaya Aura® Communication Manager (CM) Releases 6.0 – 6.2.
There are several problems that degrade the stability of CM Clock Sync over IP (CSoIP). The problems include the following:
1. In some instances, instability in synchronization of Media Gateways can occur when disabling and enabling Media Gateways for “Synchronization Over IP”.
2. Changing the Media Gateway Network Region is erroneously allowed when the “Synchronization Over IP” feature is enabled.
3. On rare occasions, removing a sync source fails, which stalls recovery from Media Gateway outages.
4. Reference board administration is not sent to the Media Gateway after a reset and administration is not restored.
5. Media Gateway registration activity can potentially interfere with the “Synchronization Over IP” feature if a large number of slave Media Gateways are being re-synchronized due to a master clock or tandem clock being added or deleted.
6. Media Gateway synchronization timing might erroneously be set to VOIP when the “Synchronization Over IP” feature is disabled. In addition, the Command Line Interface (CLI) synchronization administration commands might not be disallowed because administration control is in CM.
7. The Inter Gateway Connection (IGC) established to provide synchronization between Media Gateways might be removed after a momentary network disruption (link bounce).
8. When enabling the “Synchronization Over IP” feature, sometimes the building/rebuilding of domains (“building domains”) does not complete, and remains in an incomplete state.
Note: CSoIP is only supported with G430 and G450 Media Gateways.
