DND

Description

The DND feature permits hotel guests to request that calls directed to the room be blocked for a predetermined period of time. If the switch has a Speech Synthesizer Card (TN725B), the guest requests DND by dialing a Feature Access Code (FAC); user will then hear a voice prompt requesting the time to turn off the DND. The time will be dialed in by the guest using the dial pad. After dialing the time, the guest will be prompted for AM or PM by the voice asking "press 2 for AM or 7 for PM." The guest completes dialing and the voice prompt confirms that DND is activated. The guest may dial the FAC for DND and change (2) or deactivate (3) at any time.

If the hotel guest has a multi-button set without a display in their room, user can press a DND button and the button will light. When the guest wants to turn off DND, pressing the button will deactivate the DND feature.

An attendant can also activate DND for a guest from the Attendant Console using the ext-dn-dst (Extension DND) button and the Display. If there is no Speech Synthesizer Card, the DND FAC will direct the call to the Attendant. The user presses the ext-dn-dnt button; the extension is displayed, allowing the user to press # followed by the time to activate DND. The Attendant can also activate DND for a group of extensions by pressing the gp-dn-dst (Group DND) button. This activates DND for an entire Class of Restriction (COR).

When the room with DND receives an automatic wake-up call, the DND feature is turned off. If the room with DND receives a Priority call, the call will still ring at this station. Most calls coming to this station (from another room, or outside calls, or from the attendant), will go to the Default location that is establihed on the System Parameters Feature screen in the field, Controlled Termination Restriction (DND). Choices for this default location are: announcement, attendant, coverage, extension, or tone(reorder).

The system creates an audit trail report of all voice terminals that are in the DND mode. See the DND reports in the DEFINITY Hospitality Output section.

If a speech synthesis port is not available when the user activates Do Not Disturb the user will be routed to
the attendant. A port may not be available for the following reasons:
• No speech synthesis board in the system.
• All ports are busy.
• Ports are out of service.
