Problem Clarification

Must have an FTP application on your computer, be on the same network as Communication Manager (CM), and know the IP address of each G450 gateway.

  • Login to CM and at the command prompt type:  list media  (this will list all media resources on the system so you can get the corresponding IP address you need for each Gateway)- F1 to cancel command.
  • From command prompt type:  enable filex
  • Enter a User Name, Enter a Password, Re-enter Password, Set Secure Option to No: (Secure?: n), Enter the Announcement Board Location (Example: 001v9)
Use the FTP application (ex: WinSCP)  to load the announcements (audio files) to the IP address of the Gateway (you will need the User Name and Password you created in the step/s above to connect to the gateway with the FTP application).  Once the file transfer is complete you need to disable filex for that board in CM.  To do this, at the command prompt type:  disable filex board 001v9 (001v9 is an Example of a board location).

Repeat process for each Gateway (Board Location).

It is not possible to load audio files on the media gateway

This process will greatly reduce the time it takes to load announcements (audio files) during a migration or when hardware is replaced.

Cause

Hardware replacement and/or system migrations where a large number of announcements (audio files) must be loaded to the system.

Solution

  • Login to CM and at the command prompt type:  list media (this will list all media resources on the system so you can get the corresponding IP address you need for each Gateway)- F1 to cancel command.
  • From command prompt type:  enable filex
  • Enter a User Name, Enter a Password, Re-enter Password, Set Secure Option to No: (Secure?: n), Enter the Announcement Board Location (Example: 001v9)
  • Use an FTP application to connect to the IP Address of the Gateway and load the announcement files to the Gateway.
  • Once the transfer is complete, disable filex by typing to following at the command prompt:  disable filex board 001v9 (Example board location is 001v9)
