ERS 8600 v5.1.1.10: Following Error message

CPU5 [03/15/14 23:49:09] COP-SW ERROR SyncTransportLayer: (Slot 1) error reply received.  MsgState=2, Result=1, MsgLen=0, ReplyMsgLen=284, MsgId=127

CPU5 [03/15/14 23:49:09] HAL INFO BAL_GetSmartioDdmPortData - ltrSyncSend Error 14

Problem Clarification

"BAL_GetSmartioDdmPortData - ltrSyncSend Error 14" - The BAL_GetSmartioDdmPortData function fetches the DDM port data from the COP and returns it to the CP.  Since the DDM has not been initialized, this function fails with error code 14 which corresponds to LTR_REPLY_ERROR.

"SyncTransportLayer: (Slot 1) error reply received.  MsgState=2, Result=1, MsgLen=0, ReplyMsgLen=284, MsgId=127" -The function SyncTransportLayer which acts as a communication mechanism between the CP and COP using LTR messages, returns an error with MsgID 127 which corresponds to LTR_CMD_FAILURE.

The "show sys info gbic" command, which will cause the CP to poll the COP for detailed information on the GBICs. This is the same as executing the #show sys pluggable-optical-modules# command which also polls the COP for the same information. This is what causes the error messages to be thrown on the console

Cause

The issue is resolved in sw 5.1.2.0 and documented in WI 00508335

Solution

Without this fix, executing the "show sys pluggable-optical-module" command or the "show sys info gbic" command will throw error messages for each GBIC present in the system.
