SBCE 6.2 using High Availability (HA), License file generated by KRS

Problem Clarification

A change was made in how the license file is viewed in SBCE from System Management, Licensing tab for a license file that was generated using KRS. The change in SBCE v. 6.2 on an HA system will halve the set number for Maximum number of Session Border Controller Standard Enterprise Sessions.

Cause

This change was deemed needed to account for how Product Delivery Licensing Service (PLDS) generates license files using HA. Since the predominant license for SBCE is generated with PLDS the SBCE code had to account for how PLDS set the SBCE SE Sessions value and in an HA system it would be doubled without the correction.

Solution

For licenses generated using KRS the value seen from System Management, Licensing tab is purely cosmetic and does not enforce on the incorrect (halved) value. Version 6.3 should correct the cosmetics. Also the bulk of licenses will originate using PLDS and will not show an incorrect value.

In summary - If your SBCE HA license is showing half the value for SBCE SE Sessions and was generated by KRS it can be safely ignored and is understood to be double in value internally to the system. In version 6.3 both KRS and PLDS licenses will display correctly.
