CM, G450: RCA - G450 underwent spontaneous reset and T1/E1 lines did not come up on the DS1 modules till the G450 was power cycled

Media gateway reset affecting entire site.

Problem Clarification

G450 media gateway underwent spontaneous reset and T1/E1 lines did not come up on the DS1 modules till the G450 was manually power cycled.

Cause

In the G450 event logs found that G450 underwent a software reset at 2:53:46 AM:

This is either a FW or HW issue. The current G450 FW is not compatible with the current CM version.
The current FW of the G450 (30.12.1) was designed for CM version 5.2.1, while the server is on CM version 6.0.1. So unless a compatible firmware is running on the MG the may cause problems.

Solution

• Step 1: Bring the G450 firmware version to 31.26.0, which is the latest CM 6.0.1 compatible FW release and monitor the system. FW download link: https://support.avaya.com/downloads/download-details.action?contentId=C201317165093960_6&productId=P0001&releaseId=6.0.x

If the problem persists even on the compatible gateway firmware, please follow step 2.

• Step 2: Replace the G450 gateway plus the MP80 VoIP module
