CMS Pre-Release 17 on SUN(Oracle) servers.

Problem Clarification

Eject button was found to be broken.

Cause

Defective tape drive.

Solution

Replace tape drive.

The following command can be used to eject the tape from the Solaris Command Line.

mt -f /dev/rmt/0c offline

*note 0c can be 1c in some cases.Ckeck the right address via command iostat -En

Before replacement, a cleaning tape should be used between 6 to 8 times to ensure good function of the unit.

  serial number was needed for Oracle

used this command
cat /export/home/cmssvc/Provisioning/uname.sn
 

Explorer logs were also required

#cd /opt/SUNWexplo/bin

#./explorer

get the explorer file at /opt/SUNWexplo/output
