CM 6.3

Note that this issue may occur on any CM release.

Problem Clarification

Chronic power supply alarms during maintenance routine which are solved within 2 minutes.

During that time we see too many sanity errors in the log files which are caused by the unavailability of the G650 and not by the network.

Cause

The issue was caused by the Analog board TN2215 Vintage 15 which is also not part of the compatibility matrix for CM 6.3

Affected 655A power units have a serial number with the 3rd and 4th character equal to DT, i.e. 06DT or 07DT. These power units installed in this configuration can detect an over-voltage condition on the -48 Volt power-bus caused by the single TN2215.

Solution

Replace the TN2215 with a TN793. This will fix the issue as the TN2215 caused all the alarms.

  • Installing  additional  TN2215  or  any  other  Analog  or  DCP  station  boards in the carrier will increase the -48 Volt load and eliminate this issue
  • Future vintages of TN2215 Vintage 18 or higher, will eliminate the need to add additional boards
  • 655A Power Units can be replaced with a unit that does not have DT in the serial number
