1406 phone does not display the username. We have tried swapping extensions, rebooting the system, unplugging the phone and plugging it back in and logging in using *36 from the phone and nothing will work.

Unable to update display name in Avaya 1408 phone.

Username is not being displayed on phones connected to this port.

Cause

Phone configuration.

Solution

The top line of your phone can display different information. Your system administrator can select which information is shown by default. However, you can then select which information you want shown.

1.	Press the Features soft key if shown.

•	To access the menu during a call, press the right arrow key or press the PHONE key and then press the Features soft key.

2.	Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll the display to the option Phone User.

3.	Press the Select soft key or the OK button or the right arrow key.

4.	Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll the display to the option Phone Screen Settings.

5.	Press the Select soft key or the OK button or the right arrow key.

4.	Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll the display to the option Display Name.

5.	Press the Change soft key to change the setting or use the left or right arrow keys.

•	Off Display your extension number and the date and time on the phone when it is idle.

•	On Display your extension number and name on the phone when it is idle.

6.	Press the Done soft key.
