Problem Clarification

POW-SUP Major alarms several times a day. I found there were always sanity errors in the logfile before the POW-MAJ occurred. Sanity errors always count until 15 and right after the 15th sanity error the POW-SUP Major alarm occured. So we were concentrating on the network and the customer found a router issue at the Main site connecting to the remote G650. After this had been fixed, we found that there occurred only one MAJ-POW alarm during the maintenance routine each night. So we found the TN2215 with Vintage 15 and PSN001380u which state that Hardware Vintage 18 or higher is needed or a replacement with a TN793 analogue board would solve the issue. When checking the compatibility matrix you won’t find the TN2215 anymore at all. ;

Cause

The issue was caused by 2 different things:

1) Customer IP network connection between the Main CM site and the G650 Branch site.

2) Hardware issue: TN2215 below Vintage 18 not compatible in G650.PSN001380u (it may happen with other analog boards too - ran the following test: test boar xxYxx repeat 20; in case this system is affected when the test reach the test #48 the G650 may bound and ipsi will be OUT)

Solution

Fix the IP network issue between the Main and the Branch.

Replace the TN2215 Vintage 15 with Vintage 18 or higher or depending on your CM load use a TN793 as stated in the compatibility Matrix for CM6.
