Perform an NVRAM init only when you cannot access the Branch Gateway, for example when theBranch Gateway resets continuously.
Important: Performing the NVRAM init restores the Branch Gateway to its initial state with the default settings.
You can perform an NVRAM initialization using a jumper on the Branch Gateway motherboard.
Voltage: Disconnect the Branch Gateway from the external power source before proceeding.
Electrostatic alert: Do not touch any components on the printed circuit board except when installing or removing
the bridge for the jumper pins.
Procedure
1. Remove the Branch Gateway cover.
2. Locate the NVRAM init jumper (jumper J3801) on the front of the Branch Gateway main
board.
Refer to the figure below. Note that the jumper’s two pins closest to the rear of the G430 are
bridged.

Branch Gateway NVRAM INIT Jumper Location
3. Move the bridge on jumper J3801 so the two pins closest to the front of the G430 are
bridged.
4. Place the G430 cover back on the unit, and close it with at least the top cover screw.
5. Reconnect the G430 power cable to the power connector at the rear of the G430.
6. Connect the G430 power cable into a mains socket.
7. Let the Branch Gateway operate for about 5 minutes so that it will boot and erase the current
configuration.
Reboot is complete when the CPU LED starts blinking.
8. Disconnect the G430 power cable from the mains power supply.
9. Disconnect the G430 power cable from the G430.
10. Unscrew the top cover screw, and remove the Branch Gateway cover.
11. Move the bridge on jumper J3801 to its initial position, in which the two pins closest to the
rear of the G430 are bridged.
Important:If you do not move the bridge on jumper J3801 to its initial position, the Branch Gateway will continue to initialize the NVRAM when it resets or is powered up.
12. Replace the Branch Gateway cover.
