On running tests on the Power Supply, Test 1540 fails with error code 16 (The ringer on the primary power supply is not active)

Problem Clarification

ring generator alarm on 655As in carrier C and D
The ringer on the primary power supply is not active.--- because the secondary is now the ringer for primary.
The ringer control switch is selectable for ------------ Check this switch position **********
o Off (no ringing output from this unit)
o 20 hz (Domestic US)
o 25 hz (International)
o The small 3-position switch is located on the left side, toward the back, near the backplane connector

Cause

Basically we would need to pull out one of the redundant power supplies and verify the dip switch (paddle board), then put it back into the carrier. Once it seen by the phone system, we would need to check the other power supply. This should not be service affecting since they are redundant.

Please refer Page 21 in attached document on how to set the paddle board/dip switch properly.

Solution

contact verified that the 655A’s were set to 20Hz for ringing (they were previous optioned this way and no changes were made). After checking them, the C carrier passed the environment test. CM did not see the power supply in slot D00. we had contact move C00 to D00. Then carrier D passed all tests. He then slotted what was D00 into C00. Now all environmental tests are passing.

checked the ringing switch position
