Problem Clarification

Automatic logins via Supervisor fail with the following error with the user cms.

"The server did not recognize your login ID and/or Password, your Login shell is not set to CMS, or (V8 or later CMS only) cmsadm backup is running."

Cause

Working as designed.

The user cms uses a standard Unix/Linux shell instead or the CMS application shell. This causes issues with automatic login as the user's profile runs Korn Shell(Solaris) or Bash (RedHat) instead of the CMS shell and causes the connection to fail.

Solution

Workaround:

Use Manual login.

In CMS Supervisor, under Connect>CMS Servers. Place a checkmark in the box labelled Manual Login (using Server Name selected above) and click OK.

Then do Connect>Login, a Unix/Linux login prompt will appear. Login with the cms user credentials.

Once logged in, type cms at the prompt to start the CMS application. If queried for a terminal type, use cvsup.
