IP Phones: Alternative to GET and PUT backup

Any IP Phone.

The customer has 2 questions regarding h.323 phones backup:

  1. Is there an alternative to phone backup per GET & PUT?
  2. If there is not, then how can these data transfers be made secure?.

Problem Clarification

can avaya hard phones use only "PUT" command upload to file the file server
We disabled "put" in http.conf file and all hard phones can not upload phonebackup to the file server

In Error logs ::

with another command for example post
Avaya is able to use a different command
for example POST
instead of PUT

I disabled PUT and DELETE on file server

Cause

Customer security concerns.

Solution

There is no alternative to GET/ PUT for ip phone backup. Security concerns can be addressed by segragating the network into appropriate VLANs & using security certificates on the ip phones to secure the backup traffic.
