96x1 h.323 phones no dial tone with SRTP media encryption enabled

CM6.3 with H.323 9608G phones with 6.6302 FW.

Problem Clarification

No dial tone when the 1-srtp-aescm128-hmac80 option was enabled in the IP-codec form. The list trace command gives the following denial events:-

denial event 3731: Incompatible caps fpr end
denial event 2300: Ept capabilities mismatch

Cause

Incorrect software version deployed.

Solution

Download the correct version of phone firmware as per the note on the support website.

"Disabling of Encryption - In some jurisdictions, there is a regulatory requirement to disable the use of encryption technologies. Avaya has created and made available versions of H.323 6.6.3 software which have removed the ability to use media encryption (SRTP), IPSEC VPN and HTTPS."

If the wrong release is deployed and the IP-codec set is administered to use SRTP then calls will be denied with the following denial events.

denial event 3731: Incompatible caps fpr end
denial event 2300: Ept capabilities mismatch
