Updated firmware of phone to version 2.4.2.12 and phone is not working.

Issue is with single extension only.

 

Problem Clarification

phone displays "Say hello to the future" and is unresponsive. Client upgraded phone firmware to version 2.4.2.12 on 20 phones.

All phones worked fine after FW upgrade except one.

Cause

FW upgraded is not pushed properly on phone.

Solution

Manual FW upgrade

From the System recovery menu chose option 3 - Restore Firmware then reapply the firmware upgrade from SD card.

Upgrading firmware from SD card. The phones do not have to be connected to the network.
Procedure
1. Download the latest firmware file and save it on a SD card.
2. Put the SD card in the phone you want to upgrade.
3. Disconnect the power supply cable. Note that this is the same as the network cable if the phone uses Power over Ethernet (PoE).
4. Press and hold the MENU button while you connect the cable again (i.e. starts the Avaya B179). Hold the button pressed until the SYSTEM RECOVERY menu is shown on
the display. You can press any other button than 1, 2, or 3 to start the phone without any change.
5. Press 2 to select SD-card upgrade. The Avaya B179 is upgraded with the firmware file on the SD card and starts when the upgrade is done.

Note: If DHCP is used in the network, the IP address may have been changed. If the web browser loses contact with Avaya B179, check the IP address on the conference phone.
