Details

After upgrading AES from 5.x to 6.3.3, 3rd party softphone became to get exception error when station is talking.

Customer has applied following ASAI link version for each environment.

Old AES5 + ASAI link version 4
New AES6.3.3 + ASAI link version 7

Problem Clarification

When exception error occurred with softphone,FailedEvent as like following occurred over TSAPI.
This was unexpected behavior for 3rd party softphone developer.

360518240: [07/18/17 11:33:36.074]
360518240: RECEIVED FROM TSERVER:
360518240: FailedEvent
360518240: Application was notified

360518240: [07/18/17 11:33:36.074]
360518240: DELIVERED TO APPLICATION:
360518240: MonitorCrossRefID 1
360518240: FailedEvent ::=
360518240: {

Cause

This behavior is new feature of ASAI link version 7.

When called side is already talking and does not have enough call appearance for getting further call, further call fails as "busy".
FailedEvent is sent for informing call failed by busy.
At the environment of CM6.3.3(FP4) or later and AES6.3.3 or later, ASAI link version 7 provides this feature as one of "CTI events for undelivered calls". Please refer to following articles.

What’s New for the AE Services Release 6.3.3 TSAPI Service

Undelivered Call Events
Beginning with AE Services Release 6.3.3, Avaya Communication Manager Release 6.3.6, and ASAI Link Version 7, the TSAPI Service provides CSTA Unsolicited events to indicate that a call could not be delivered to a monitored station.  For example:

 If a call cannot be completed because the called station does not have a call appearance available to receive the call or because the Limit Number of Concurrent Calls feature is active, a device monitor for the called station receives a CSTA Failed Event.

Solution

Please handle exception error by 3rd party softphone side, or change ASAI link version from 7 to 6 or other proper level.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CHANGING THE ASAI LINK VERSION REQUIRES YOU TO RESTART THE TSAPI SERVICE ON AES WHICH IS SERVICE AFFECTING TO TSAPI APPLICATIONS!
