Details

AES 7.0.1. SP5 on VMWare.
HA setup.

Problem Clarification

AES HA cannot be configured. New installation.

It has never worked - installation issue.

Cause

AES server is configured with ‘ANY’ in the AE Service (Local IP) setting but the httpd/tomcat settings are binding to the specific interface IP 192.xxx.xx.xx (Which is apart from the normal AES IPs). This is unexpected. Because of the settings discrepancy, this AES backup file should not be used or this issue will be encountered the same issue again.

Solution

Steps for fixing the issue:

1) Install aes1 - with the same SP5, LSU3, ASL patches
2) Installed aes2 - with the same SP5, LSU3, ASL patches
3) Configured aes1 and aes2 with IPs.
4) Setup the same passwords on both aes servers
5) Restore the data to aes1
6) Check for network ANY settings
7) Check for interfaces configuration
8) Checked files listed below - and - in the restore there were incorrect entries if the issue happens.
9) adjusted files:
        /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
       /etc/httpd/conf.d/ssl.conf
       /usr/share/tomcat5/conf/server.xml
to have entries as you recommended
10) Setup AES HA with Virtual IP for eth0
11) Start AES HA
12) Verify all
13) Interchange to aes standby with success and see if able to login via old_aes2 IP address and via vitrual_eth0 IP address !!
14) Verify all
15) Interchange back to aes primary with success amd see of able to login via aes1 IP address and via vitrual_eth0 IP address !!

NOTE: Step 8 and 9, is for knowing the issue purpose, if you're sure about the issue, skip these steps.
