Answer

IP Office Applications Firewall Batch File

Following the installation of any IP Office applications, it may be necessary to open and add that application to the firewall exceptions list. Whilst the firewall may prompt the user whether it should do that when the application is first run, the batch file attached below can be run to add the necessary firewall exceptions.

  1. Download the zip file: Please see attachments

  2. Unzip AvayaFW.bat from the AvayaFW.zip file.

  3. Run the batch file on the user's PC.

Notes

  1. There is a selection to define your operating system. Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 2008 Server firewall commands differ from those of Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server. Please select the appropriate option.

  2. Depending on security restrictions, it may be necessary to run the batch file with elevated permissions. Right Click the Batch file and select Run As Administrator. If the file is run without elevated permissions and they are required, an error message will appear advising the elevated permissions are required.

  3. To account for installs in a directory other than the default, a simple change to a single entry at the beginning of the batch file. By default this is set to D:\ which will cause both the C: drive and D: drive to be checked (assuming directories remain default). If the files are installed on a different directory, right mouse Click the batch file and select Edit. Change the line [located at the beginning of the file] set drive=D:\ to the appropriate drive letter and select save.

  4. Some Windows installs, change the default Program Files to Program Files (x86). The batch file will now also check for this path.

  5. For Web Based Server applications such as Customer Call Reporter and One-x Portal for IP Office, the default firewall ports will be opened. If the application is using web ports other than the default, firewall policy will need to be manually updated.
