Maximum CNA agents supported

The CNA system supports a maximum of 1000 CNA agents. A maximum of 700 endpoints can be IP phones. However, if a system contains more than 64 total CNA agents, the CNA Agents embedded in IP Phones are not used to run tests.

Avaya recommends that you configure CNA agents in the following order:

  1. Add all Chatter modules to the hive. See Assigning Chatter modules to a hive.
  2. Register CNA agents in security gateways, media gateways, and Avaya partner products such as Extreme switches, as well as any standalone CNA Agent Devices.
  3. Register Avaya IP phones.

Configure the IP phone DHCP servers so that each IP phone knows the addresses of at least one CNA server. Not all phones need to register with CNA. Avaya recommends that you register at least two CNA agents on each LAN segment of interest, but no more than two of these CNA agents can be IP phones. Reboot the appropriate phones so that they reregister with the DHCP servers, and then with CNA.
