	Creating a Media File

4. To access the Media File Wizard, use one of the following methodologies:

• From the File menu, select New > Media File.

• On the main toolbar, click for the media file wizard.

• Right-click anywhere in the Navigator view, select New > Media File.

Dialog Designer displays the Creating a Media File page.

1. To create a new media file, configure the following settings in the Create a media resource page of the Media File Wizard:

   Fields	Description	Required?
   Available Projects	Select a project in which you want to create the media file.	Yes
   Available Languages	Select the language for the media file.	Yes
   Media File Name	Enter a unique and relevant name for the media file.	Yes
   Media Type	Select the type of media file you want to create. The options are audio, video, text and image.	Yes

   
   

2. Click Next.

• Dialog Designer opens one of the following wizards depending on the Media Type you have chosen:

• If you have selected the Media Type as audio, the Add New Audio Wizard opens. This wizard allows you to create a new audio file or use an existing file just like a typical phrase audio.

  Audio file New Existing	Select one option: To create a new audio file, select New. To use an existing audio file, select Existing. Dialog Designer enables the [File name] Browse button to navigate to the file you want to use.	Yes
  Extension .wav .au	If you select the New option in the Audio File field, select the appropriate audio format for the audio file.	Yes
  File Name	If you are creating a new audio file, enter a relevant name for the audio file. If you browse to an existing audio file, this field populates the file name. You can also edit this field.	Yes

  
  

• If you have selected the Media Type as video, the Add New Video Wizard opens. This wizard does not give you the option to create a new file. You must reference an existing file as there is no mechanism in Dialog Designer to create videos.

• If you have selected the Media Type as image, the Add New Image Wizard opens. The image wizard format is similar to the video wizard. This wizard does not give you the option to create a new file. You must reference an existing file as there is no mechanism in Dialog Designer to create static images..

  Text Information Local	To use an existing audio file, select Local. Dialog Designer enables the [File name] Browse button to navigate to the file to use.	Yes
  File Name	This field populates the file name of the image file you select. You can also edit this field.	Yes

  
  

• If you have selected the Media Type as text, the Add New Text Wizard opens. The text wizard format is similar to the audio wizard. You can create new text file or reference an existing text file.
