Installing the SCSI Interface Card

Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.

Installing a SCSI interface card in the MAP/5P, MAP/5PV3, or MAP/5PV4 provides access for external storage devices for migrations and upgrades. These devices are used to transfer data between systems.

To install the SCSI interface card:

  1. Shut down the voice system.
  2. Remove system power. For more information, see Removing Power (MAP/5P and MAP/5PV3) or Removing Power (MAP/5PV4).
  3. Remove the dress covers. For more information, see Removing the Dress Cover (MAP/5P or MAP/5PV3) or Removing the Dress Cover (MAP/5PV4).
  4. Remove the SCSI interface card from the reusable upgrade kit (RUK) and from the static-reducing bag. See SCSI Interface Circuit Card.
  5. Remove the screw retaining the slot cover from PCI slot 1.
  6. Install the SCSI interface card in PCI slot 1. See either MAP/5P and MAP/5PV3 Internal Layout or MAP/5PV4 Internal Layout and Installing a Circuit Card (MAP/5P and MAP/5PV3) or Installing a Circuit Card (MAP/5PV4) for more information.
  7. Install and tighten the circuit card retaining screw.

Note: Leave the dress cover off the system until the data transfer is verified. You can then remove the SCSI interface card and replace the dress cover.

  8. Click the BACK button until you return to the procedure checklist.
