Install New System Software

The INTUITY AUDIX LX is shipped from the factory with the latest software. If needed, you can install new software on a new machine or on an existing system to bring the system software up to the latest version.

Note: This procedure is written for the latest release of INTUITY AUDIX LX software. If you are installing software prior to Release IA1.1-5.3, you may see slightly different or additional prompts. If this occurs, follow the instructions on the screen. Press Enter to acknowledge any confirmation messages.

Preparation

  1. If you are installing to an existing system or cutting over an existing machine, plan to do the installation during low usage hours.
  2. If you are installing on an existing system, verify that you have a current backup of the system information. See Backing Up System Files (Attended) for more information.
  3. Obtain switch integration information or configuration notes before beginning the installation.
  4. Determine the following information for the INTUITY AUDIX LX, either through account worksheets or your project manager:
    • System name. The system name cannot exceed 7 characters if you plan to use Overlan (C-LAN) switch integration.
    • IP address, Domain, DNS. This must be provided by the customer.
    • Feature usage, such as outcalling, fax, and Internet Messaging
    • Switch integration information, such as switch IP address, extension numbers, and length

Installing the Software

  1. Insert the INTUITY AUDIX LX new system software DVD into the DVD drive.
  2. Shut down the system.
    • The preferred method is to use the Utilities menu and select Shutdown System.
    • If you see a warning message, click OK.
    • Note: If you cannot get to the Shutdown System web administration page, press the RESET button on the front of the INTUITY AUDIX LX. You need a small screwdriver or a ball-point pen to press the button.

  3. After the "Power down" message appears, press the power button to power the system down.
  4. Press the power button again to restart the system.
  5. As the machine starts up, you see an Avaya splash screen and then a screen that says "Welcome to Avaya INTUITY AUDIX LX R1.1 Multimedia Messaging Server."
  6. At the boot: prompt, type install and press Enter.
  7. Wait 10 to 15 minutes for installation to complete.
    • If the system prompts for information about language, keyboard, or installation media, press Enter.
    • If the system prompts for other information, such as video cards or disk type, there may be a problem. Contact Technical Support.
  8. When installation is complete, the system displays a completion message.

The system then displays the message "Please remove the Install DVD from the DVD drive, and press <ENTER>."

  9. Remove the DVD as soon as the drawer opens. If the door does not open automatically within 2 minutes, eject the DVD manually.

Note: Do not leave the DVD in the DVD drive. Leaving the DVD in the drive causes the system to boot from it again and installation to start over.

  10. Press Enter.

As the system boots up for the first time, a splash screen displays, followed by a welcome message.

  11. Press Enter to select OK.

Setting the System Time

The system displays the Time Date Selection screen.

  8. Make sure that there is an asterisk (*) in the Set Hardware Clock to GMT field.
  9. Press Tab twice to move the cursor to the OK box.
  10. Press Enter to save the page settings.

Running Autoinstall

The system displays the "localhost login:" prompt.

  1. Type root as the login and press Enter.

The system displays the # prompt.

  2. Put the new system software DVD back in the DVD drive.
  3. At the # prompt, type autoinstall and press Enter.
  4. Press Enter again to confirm that you want to run the autoinstall process.
  5. Follow the autoinstall prompts to assign the system passwords for root, craft, tsc, and craftppp.

The system displays a message that the password changes were successful.

  6. Wait 5 to 10 minutes while the new software is installed.

When autoinstall completes, the system displays the message "Please remove the Installation DVD from the DVD drive and press <ENTER>."

  7. Remove the DVD from the DVD drive, and close the DVD drive door.
  8. Press Enter to restart the system.

Note: If you accidentally allow the system to restart with the DVD still in the drive, wait until you get to the install screen, and then eject the DVD. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system.

  9. After the system restarts, the voice system messaging software starts automatically.

  10. Wait until the system displays the message, "Press Enter to return to prompt ...", then press Enter.

The new software installation is complete.
