Installing Optional Circuit Cards
Super Serial Circuit Card
Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.The asynchronous circuit card allows you to connect the Avaya Intuity system to external peripheral equipment. See Super Serial Circuit Card.
Note: If you are installing the super serial circuit card, the system cannot be equipped with the multi-port serial circuit card.
- Set the jumpers.See Super Serial Circuit Card Jumper.
- Set the switches. See Super Serial Circuit Card Switches.
- Determine the appropriate slot location.
- Install the circuit card using the general circuit card installation procedure.
- Install the super serial circuit card driver.
Installing the Super Serial Circuit Card Driver
- Start at the Avaya Intuity Main Menu and select:
UNIX Management
Equinox AdministrationThe system displays the Equinox Driver Installation Window.

You may enable a selection of baud rates above 30400 for all ports by answering "Yes" to the following question.
If you enable baud rates above 30400 speeds below 300 baud will be unavailable. Speeds 300 to 30400 are unaffected.
The high baud rates are selected according to the following table:

ACCX (AYC22) Circuit Card
Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.The Avaya Intuity system supports up to eight networking channels via digital and analog remote connections. These connections are created using DCP and RS232 links respectively from the ACCX networking circuit card.
Each ACCX card includes eight dip switches. These switches represent SA4 through SA11 on the ISA Bus and are used to set the address of the card. See ACCX Networking Circuit Card, and Switch Settings for the ACCX Card.
- Determine the appropriate slot location.
- Install the circuit card using the general circuit card installation procedure.
DCIU Circuit Card
Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.The DCIU circuit card connects to Avaya switches through an X.25 link. Your system may interface with the link through this circuit card.
Note: In order to use this circuit card the Avaya Intuity DCIU Switch Integration set must be installed on the Avaya Intuity system.
You can install only one DCIU circuit card in the platform.
The DCIU circuit card contains no jumpers or switches that you must set before you install the circuit card. See DCIU Circuit Card.
To install a DCIU circuit card in a system which previously did not have a DCIU circuit card installed:
- Stop the voice system.
- Determine the appropriate slot location for the DCIU circuit card.
- Install the Avaya Intuity DCIU Switch Integration set.
- Install the circuit card.
- Reboot the system.
To replace a defective DCIU circuit card:
Digital Station Interface Circuit Card
Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.The digital station interface circuit card connects to Avaya switches. Your system may interface with the switch through this circuit card.
Note: In order to use this circuit card the Digital Station Interface Switch Integration set must be installed on the Avaya Intuity system.
You can install only one digital station interface circuit card in the platform. See Digital Station Interface Circuit Card.
The digital station interface circuit card has a jumper field which must be verified before you install the circuit card. There should be no jumpers placed on the jumper field.
To install a digital station interface circuit card in a system which previously did not have a DCIU circuit card installed:
- Stop the voice system.
- Determine the appropriate slot location for the digital station interface circuit card.
- Install the Digital Station Interface Switch Integration set.
- Install the circuit card.
- Reboot the Avaya Intuity system.
To replace a defective digital station interface circuit card:
- Remove the defective digital station interface circuit card.
- Install the digital station interface circuit card.
LAN Circuit Card
Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.The LAN circuit card allows you to connect the Avaya Intuity system to your local area network. See LAN Circuit Card. The LAN circuit card has two LEDs on the faceplate. The table below lists the functions of the LEDs.
- Determine the appropriate slot location.
- Install the circuit card using the general circuit card installation procedure.
- Initialize the LAN circuit card.
Speech and Signal Processor (AYC43) Circuit Card
Damage from electrostatic discharge is possible. See Protecting Against ESD Damage for more information.The SSP circuit card is equipped with 16 MB of memory contained on a dual in-line memory module (DIMM). The DIMM is located in the lower portion of the SSP circuit card.
There should be no jumpers installed on the SSP circuit card. See SSP Circuit Card.
There are two types of switches on the SSP circuit card:
If the SSP circuit card is not located at the end of the TDM bus, both switches should be set to open. The switches should be set to closed if the SSP circuit card is located at the end of the bus.
The rotary switch must be set to zero. See SSP Circuit Card Switches.
To replace a defective SSP circuit card:
- Remove the SSP circuit card.
- Install the SSP circuit card.
Use this procedure when adding an SSP circuit card to a system which is not currently equipped with one. Do not use this procedure when replacing a defective circuit card.See the SSP Circuit Card Switches.
To add an SSP circuit card to an Avaya Intuity system:
- Make sure you have a TDM bus cable.
The TDM bus cable connects all of the Tip/Ring circuit cards as well as the SSP circuit card.
- Remove the tip/ring circuit card from Slot 1.
- Verify that the TDM bus terminator SIPs have been installed on the Tip/Ring circuit card.
- Replace the tip/ring circuit card in Slot 1.
- Remove the remaining tip/ring circuit cards.
- Remove the TDM bus terminator SIPs from the Tip/Ring circuit cards.
- Replace the remaining tip/ring circuit cards.
- Verify the two-position selector switches, on the SSP circuit card, are set properly.
- Determine the appropriate slot location.
- Install the SSP circuit card.
- Install the TDM bus cable.
Attach the TDM bus cable to the SSP circuit card using the TDM Bus A termination.
