Administering TCP/IP LAN connectivity

Complete the following procedures to establish addresses for the Message Networking system to use to send and receive information over the customer's LAN:

  1. Configure network addressing
  2. Configure the PPP server (optional; for remote support)
  3. Attach the LAN cable

Before you begin these procedures, determine if the LAN is administered for the system or if you need to notify the LAN administrator and arrange for LAN administration for the system.

Caution! Avaya is not responsible for the installation, administration, or testing of the LAN. Seek service as directed by your LAN administrator to resolve LAN problems. Some LANs can be administered prior to your arrival on site. Other LANs require that the administration for a new machine be done at the time of installation because an open connection could cause the LAN to fail.

When the LAN is administered for the system, you should test the TCP/IP LAN connectivity.
