Aria Digital Test

This topic provides information on testing connectivity to Aria Digital remote machines. When you run the Aria Digital test, the Message Networking system initiates an outgoing connection to the specified Aria Digital remote machine, and then verifies the IP address and password of the remote machine during the exchange of system profiles. You should perform this test as part of acceptance testing after you perform initial administration.

Note: It can take up to five minutes for this test to complete.

To test connectivity between the Message Networking system and an Aria Digital remote machine:

  1. Start at the Message Networking Administration menu, and select Remote Machine Administration > Test Connections > Aria Digital Test.
The system displays the Aria Digital Test page.
  2. From the Remote Machine Name menu, select the name of the remote machine to which you want to test the connection.
  3. Click Test.
The system checks for the following possible errors:
    • Aria Digital is not functioning on the Message Networking system.
    • There is no matching host name in the database.
    • There is no IP address for the specified Aria Digital machine name.
    • There is a duplicate outgoing connection to the same remote machine.
    • The connection is rejected by the remote machine.
    • The connection timed out.
    • There is an Octel serial number mismatch.

The system also checks for dial plan mapping and subscriber entries for the Aria Digital remote machine on the Message Networking system. The system displays a warning if no dial plan mapping entries or subscriber entries are found for the remote Aria Digital machine being tested. These warnings do not affect the outcome of the connection test.

The system displays the results of the test:

    • If no errors are found, the system displays a message that the connection was successful, and you should proceed to the next step.
    • If the screen contains a message stating that the test failed, verify that the remote machine is administered correctly.
  4. Click Return to Main to return to the Administration menu.

Note: If you experience problems communicating with an Aria Digital remote system, see Remote machine connection troubleshooting.
