Performing Voice Messaging Database Audits

This topic describes how to perform Voice Messaging Database Audits on the Message Storage Server (MSS). This topic contains a general procedure that can be used to perform all of the different types of Voice Messaging Database Audits, which include auditing:

  • mailboxes
  • mailing lists
  • network data
  • personal directories
  • subscriber data

To perform a Voice Messaging Database Audits:

  1. Start at the Messaging Administration main menu and select:

  2. Global Administration
         Messaging Administration

    The system displays the SSH User Authentication dialog box. Enter your login, for example, sa or vm, in the User name field and your password in the Password field. Click Login. The system then displays the Messaging command prompt screen.

  3. At the enter command prompt, enter the appropriate command for the audit you want to run. See the following table for a list of Voice Messaging Database Audit commands:

    Mailboxes
    audit mailboxes or au mailb
    Mailing lists
    audit mailing-lists or au maili
    Network data

    audit network-data or au ne

    Personal directories
    audit personal-directories or au p
    Subscriber data
    audit subscriber-data or au su

    The system displays the Audit Results screen for the audit you want to run.

  5. Press F3 (Enter) to run the audit.
  6. The system displays the audit name and result code R Running, which indicates that the audit is running.

  7. Wait for the audit to finish. Press F1 (Cancel) to abort the audit and exit the form. Press F3 (Enter) to put the audit in the background mode and return to the command line. Enter status audit to reconnect to the page.
  8. Verify that the audit passed or failed. The system displays the result code P Passed under the Results column if the audit passed. If the audit failed, do the following:
    1. Resolve any active alarms and rerun the audit.
    2. If the audit fails again, contact the remote service center.
    3. If the system is not providing service and the remote service center cannot help immediately, reboot the system.
  9. Return to Step 2 if you want to run another audit or click Return to Main to return to the Messaging Administration main menu.
