Removing power from an S3400-family server

Before you open an Avaya S3400-family server chassis, you must shut down the server software and remove AC power as follows:

  1. Shut down the server:
    1. Remove any disk from the DVD drive.
    2. Click Start > Shut Down.
    3. On the Shut Down Windows screen, select Shut down and click OK.
    4. The server shut downs the software and powers off automatically.
  2. Verify that the green power lamp on the front of the server is dark. If not, press and hold down the power button to power off the server. See figure Messaging Application Server (front view).
  3. Note: In the United Kingdom, if a modem is attached to the server, you must first disconnect the telephone line from the server before unplugging any power cords.

  4. Unplug all power cords from the AC connector on the back of the server. See figure Messaging Application Server (back view).
  5. Continue with Removing the front bezel and top cover.
