Getting inside the S3400-family server chassis

Opening up an Avaya S3400-family server chassis includes the following steps:

Prepare for a server repair operation as appropriate for this server:

  • If the server is already in operation, you must take it out of service to work inside the chassis. Schedule and publicize a time.
  • For a system that has multiple MASs, you can busyout the ports on an MAS before you start the repair operation. To busyout ports on an MAS:
    • The PBX administrator must use the procedures appropriate for this PBX to busyout the ports for MAS. Depending on the switch integration, the administrator might be able to temporarily reroute calls to other MASs. If an MAS is unavailable, callers into the system might hear ring-no answer or a busy signal.
    • Use the Port Monitor to disable the MAS ports. For more information, see SPM - Port Monitor.
