Setting up remote updates for your local system

You can set up your local MSS to get updates from remote systems.

To set up remote updates for your local system:

  1. On the Manage Networked Machines page, select the local machine and click Edit the Selected Networked Machine.

The system displays the current settings of the local machine in the Edit Networked Machine page.

  2. Specify whether the local machine is able to accept incoming updates from networked machines and send updates to networked machines:
    • Use the Updates In? field to specify whether the local machine is able to accept incoming updates. Select yes to accept updates from networked machines. Select no to restrict the local machine from accepting incoming updates from networked machines.
    • Use the Updates Out? field to specify whether the local machine is able to send updates to networked machines. Select yes to enable the local machine to send updates to networked machines. Select no to restrict the local machine from sending updates to networked machines.

Note: When you add a networked machine to the system, you specify whether each networked machine is able to send and receive updates.

  3. In the Inbound LDAP Security field, select one of the following values:
    • Must use SSL to require Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption for inbound LDAP directory updates.
    • Must use SSL or encrypted SASL to require SSL or encrypted Simple Authentication and Security Layer (SASL) for inbound LDAP directory updates.
  4. Click Save.

The changes are saved and the system displays the Manage Networked Machines list.
